In a word

A platform dolly for mechanics to transport heavy materials and avoid unsafe postures and moves during their work inside casings.

The project

Working inside a motor casing is difficult. Mechanics have to operate in a crouched position and lift heavy equipment (weighing up to 250 kg) in unstable body positions. The risk of injury or error is prevalent.

The solution? A skateboard for mechanics! Rolled out in 2019 at the EDF PEI site on Réunion Island, this innovation makes handling easier and halves intervention times, while protecting employees.

The skateboard is fed into the casing using two hoists and prevents the operative from having to lift any loads. It will soon be introduced in EDF PEI operating plants, and will be used to support the Group’s mechanics during work execution.

At a maximum cost of € 1500, it is easily replicated, and will guarantee safe and productive workers.

Why is this a game changer ?
